Which vitamin is good for bones?

Contrary to popular belief, problems with the skeletal system are not limited to the elderly. Therefore, from childhood, we should take care of bones and apply preventive measures. What methods to use to have healthy and strong bones until old age?

Forming bone tissue lasts for several years from the moment of birth. According to current medical knowledge, bone density diminishes with age. The changes also apply to the vertebrae from which the spine is built – then back pain and other ailments may occur. How can you prevent degeneration of the spine? Is poor bones in old age really a normal situation?

Vitamin K – especially vitamin K2 – is very important in maintaining bone health, because its deficit is the main cause of bone density reduction.

Vitamin K1 is easy to obtain from food because it is found in green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, broccoli and spinach. Even a Western type diet, which is considered to be unprofitable for health – it easily provides enough vitamin K1, which is sufficient to meet the body’s needs.

The satisfaction of the needs for vitamin K2 is much worse. Vitamin K2 is only about 10% of vitamin K consumed in the western diet. This type of vitamin K is hardly available in the diet. Vitamin K2 can be synthesized by the intestinal microflora, provided that we have a favorable and varied bacterial flora – which is rare today. In addition, vitamin K2 is found in fermented food, for example in a Japanese delicacy – fermented soy called natto.

Dietary supplements that strengthen bones.

It has been known for many years that eating fatty fish strengthens bones. Our grandmothers and grandparents, when they were children, drank a spoonful of cod liver oil every day – to strengthen the bones. Modern research confirms that the higher intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids results in increased bone mineral density and reduced bone fragility.

There are plenty of supplements containing valuable omega fatty acids on the market that are beneficial for the cardiovascular system and, moreover, contribute to improving the density and elasticity of bone tissue. However, only one of them has in its composition also a beneficial vitamin K2 and a set of other substances that further enhance health effects and broaden the spectrum of the preparation. We recommend reading the properties and composition of OMEGA+++. It is a dietary supplement that contains omega 3, 6 and 9 from strong fish oil and borage oil, enriched with fertilized bird’s egg extract and coenzyme Q10 with prolonged action. Vitamin K2 comes from fermented soybeans and is characterized by extremely favorable properties.
