Green tea and hair loss

Green tea is well known for its numerous health benefits, which are the result of its inclusion in a daily, healthy diet. More and more research suggests that tea, which has been used so far for general health enhancement, is also an effective natural treatment against hair loss. According to the results of research carried out by Korean scientists, green tea can effectively prevent the main cause of hair loss in both women and men.

Green tea stimulates hair growth because it is a rich source of flavonoids, polyphenols, vitamin C and vitamin E. Is there any scientific evidence that green tea can prevent baldness?

The most common cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, which is suffered by men and women. Researchers believe that the cause of male pattern baldness is inherited genetic predisposition. Despite the name, male pattern baldness also applies to women. It is associated with a hormone called DHT, which produces male genitals (testicles) and female sex organs (ovaries).

Can green tea be treated as a herbal remedy for androgenetic alopecia?

Researchers have long known that green tea contains antioxidants that make it beneficial to many aspects of health. A group of scientists from a laboratory in Korea conducted a study to check whether the same antioxidants can counteract baldness. The results of the research turned out to be very promising. A group of volunteers took part in the study of the effect of green tea on the hair follicles. The researchers removed the hair follicles in the growth phase and then exposed them to the extracted tea components. Shocking effects have been achieved when testing EGCG – a catechin derivative found in green tea. It was found that the lifespan of the hair follicles and their ability to produce hair increased. This is a very important discovery because DHT causes destruction of the hair follicles and this is the physical cause of androgenetic alopecia.

How to use green tea for hair care?

The researchers found that when EGCG is combined with ethanol and applied locally to balding areas of the skin, it acts as an effective, herbal preparation against hair loss. Scientists believe that ethanol facilitates and accelerates the absorption of beneficial substances through the hair roots. The use of green tea on the scalp or the use of hair care products containing green tea is also beneficial, however alcoholic green tea extract gives much better results.

It is very important to start baldness treatment as soon as possible. Start applying the treatment immediately, as soon as you notice that the hair is thinning. This will significantly increase your chances of getting your hair back. If the hair follicles are left untreated for too long, they will permanently lose their ability to function and baldness will become impossible to heal.

It is Interesting. Until now, I thought green tea was good for weight loss and detoxification. And here it turns out that it also eliminates baldness? I need to research more on this and it is possible that I may decide to try green tea for hair loss. I have weak and thin hair for as long as I can remember . Thanks.
